The M-1961 Bags are from 1963, The M-1956 Bags are from 1962
The difference was the M-1961 was larger and featured a rubberized Lining and had a extended top cover. The M-1956 was smaller and used a simpler flap design and had internal side flaps to cover the main compartment.
In early 1961 models (The ones I have) were still stamped M-1956 despite design changes. They can be identified by updated federal stock numbers, the ones I have listed for the M-1956 are from 1962.
The M-1956 were designed for the U.S. Army for Load Carrying equipment to be attached to the rear of the pistol.
